About Us
The Closet Ministry at Monrovia Church of Christ was created to assist our community with clothing needs. Clothing is collected throughout the year for two giveaways. The first occurs in the spring with a focus on warm weather clothing. The second one is in the fall with a focus on cold weather clothing. In addition to clothing, shoes, accessories, baby items, and new socks/underwear are generally available. We open our doors to anyone in need without requirement or need to register. All items are given free of charge.
Next Giveaway: Saturday November 8, 10AM-12PM
How it works
The week prior to the giveaway, our auditorium is filled with racks of clothing. At 10 am on the giveaway day, the doors are opened to our “shoppers.” We try to accommodate everyone at once, but due to large turnouts and fire safety protocols, we sometimes need to stage the entrance. Once inside, our shoppers are given instructions and bags with which to fill with clothes. All items are free. We do not limit the number of clothes/accessories that can be taken. However, due to limited supply of new socks and underwear, we do limit those items. They are distributed in a special area by our volunteers. In order to ensure fair distribution, each family receives 1 ticket that is then exchanged for these items based on family size.
Closet Day Instructions
Welcome to the Closet’s Free Shopping Day
Please help yourself to any available clothing, shoes, or accessories. Disregard any prices visible.
Feel free to take hangers.
For safety, please do not remove safety clips from clothes or hangers
Tables are setup if you wish to leave clothing in one place while you shop. They are marked “checkout”. Attendants will help you bag and store them until you are ready to leave. They also have additional bags.
If you need help, ask anyone with a name tag. We are here to help.
Take the attached ticket to the socks and underwear table. An attendant will help you. Only 1 ticket is needed per family. Just let the attendant know how many people you are shopping for.
